Dobson’s  Old Reliable Single Malt Whisky is a  very lightly peated, triple distilled malt that has been matured in French oak casks that previously held shiraz, as well as ex-Madeira casks. Golden Promise barley is employed in the mash. Pours a slightly pale, medium amber/gold colour and has frail scents of creamy soda, vanilla custard and hints at pineapple pudding. Lighter-styled,as per entry level Canadian ryes or Irish blends, this is graceful and silky in the mouth with vanilla wafer, light fruit’n’nut chocolate and gentle cinnamon/pepper warmth. Turns drier to finish with subdued vanilla custard notes in the aftertaste.
